Support Erin Ruehrwein in the 2008 Chicago Marathon
Erin Ruehrwein
I started running regularly during college to stay in shape and was inspired to do so by one of my very athletic friends. As a high school athlete who didn't play sports in college, I looked at doing races as a way to continue defining myself as an athlete and had no idea how attached I would become to running. Since college, I've competed in many races and triathlons and this will be my 4th Chicago marathon. Before every race I think about my relatives who have passed away, especially my cousin who passed at a young age and never had the opportunity to grow up and experience all life has to offer, and I see no reason to not push myself to the extremes of the marathon because I am lucky to be able to do it. But in the past, my reasons for running have been selfish and for self-satisfaction. This year however, I'm excited to be running for a good cause, Spinal Cord Injuries Suck. I met Geoff during college and am extremely inspired by and in awe of his positive outlook on life and his drive to fund a cure for spinal cord injuries. He's put a lot of hard work into creating this charity, and I'll do all that I can to help make it a success!
