When I founded SCIS, I was laying in a hospital bed and I didn't want to get into my regular wheelchair, let alone travel the world doing marathons, raising awareness and advocating for spinal cord injury cure research. However, this is my life now and I'm proud of it. Contrary to what some may tell you, disability isn't glamorous, easy or fun, but it is a uniquely human condition. More than anything else, SCIS was founded to tell this story. There are many in my shoes who can't get out there with me and push 26.2 miles around a beautiful city. However, they are struggling, fighting and perservering more every single day than me or any of the other SCIS runners. So we are running on behalf of them towards a different finish line. Your donation brings us one step closer to that line--a cure for spinal cord injury, and the improved quality of life on the other side.
