Support Nick Schafer in the 2010 Chicago Marathon

Nick Schafer

Chicago, IL

Past Marathons:

Chicago 2008

Marathon Time Goal:

Under 4:30:00

Inspiration:

After my first marathon in 2008, I vowed to never run one again, but as time passed and my joints reverted back to good working order, the memories of the struggle of the last 6 miles were gone and replaced by the enjoyment I had running the first 20 miles and the sense of accomplishment I felt crossing the finish line. That year I also witnessed Geoff finish on a tv while I crossed mile 8 with mixed emotions. Jealousy, that I had 3.5 more hours and 18 miles to go, but moreover excitement that I had a friend finishing alongside the elite athletes in the race. So I am excited to be a part of Team SCIS in 2010 and am running the race for Geoff and SCIS to raise awareness for this cause and help raise money to fund research to find a cure.
