Reason for SCIS:

It has been over a year and a half since I found out my skiing and climbing partner and dear friend had been in an ice climbing accident. When I found out William had a spinal cord injury, I could only imagine the worst. I had no idea that he would defy the odds of his injury and walk, bike, ski, and climb mountains again! I figured if he was up for climbing mountains again, why not try a marathon? I had been looking into running the Chicago marathon and wanted to run for a charity and raise money. I was thrilled when I found SCIS, and that I would eventually have to opportunity to raise money and run in the Chicago marathon with William. My fiance Shaun and I will join William this October for a very memorable experience. I can't wait!
