Reason for SCIS:
I was inspired to run this marathon from SCIS member Trent Beachy. Trent and I have been friends since second grade, so a little over 20 years. After Trent broke his neck and ran the Chicago marathon last year after a little over two years of recovery, I vowed to run next to him the next year. I have fun many half-marathons, even one while deployed to Afghanistan last year. Had I been able to train properly, I would have loved to run last year with Trent for his first marathon. The perseverance and strength people show, especially Trent, after having a spinal cord injury is truly amazing. This keeps my feet hitting the pavement. I look forward to running and raising money for an outstanding organization in SCIS.
